| Starting at a young age, I was very swayed by the art and artists of Walt
Disney Animation. You will notice that my work mimics the squashable-stretchable
properties of an animated Disney character! …I very much so have an
affinity for fat babies, as is probably evident here!
It was quite a task switching to the style used in A MONK'S TALE and keeping consistent with a much more rigid and realistic design, but I unwind by sketching overly fat, pathetically cute little Cutie McFatsos! In fact, the more pathetic, the better! Aside from a wide selection of A MONK'S TALE related art and concept sketches, what you'll find here are some of my most cherished 'doodles' from my current sketchbook. I am fortunate enough to have recently received a grant from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts to produce my first animated short film, TICK TALK. The bird characters are from the short, which is still in production. I aim to have all of the production complete by the end of the year! …Watch for it! I very much enjoy people watching and sketching from life when I'm in coffee shops, on the train, at the zoo, or just about anywhere out in the general public. (In fact, when I am at the zoo, I am more inclined to sketch the people than the animals!) ARTIST'S TIP #1: wear dark sunglasses and headphones, so people don't know that you're drawing them, or bother to ask you either!!! Anyway, you will find all kinds of life studies here in my gallery, too! Be sure to check out Kandrix's Gallery. (…I find his "Old Monk Inks" delightfully terrifying and deliciously stylistic! Very weird! …And I really dig his Wildstorm Page!) Thanks for your interest in my drawings! I hope you enjoy them! PEACE! |
